Forgotten Farm Ponds | The Last Of The Leneys ? | In The Edge With Karl

In 1934 Donald Leney stocked 50 fingering carp into a small farm pond. Over the next 50 years these fish, of the galacian strain, went on to dominate the UK carp scene and create the legacy of Redmire Pool and many of the anglers that fished there. Leney carp were stocked all over the country but in many instances the strain became diluted as angling clubs, in response to anglers demands, stocked faster growing fish from other strains. Now the pure galacian/Leney strain is almost non-existent with just a handful of exceptions. Here ‘In the Edge with Karl’ put the focus on one of carp fishing’s most interesting and important dynasties.
