In this video, Jimmy Willis from the Get Fishing Team will cover everything you need to start feeder fishing. Don’t worry if you’ve never been fishing before, because we are going to cover the equipment you’ll need, how to set it up, how to safely catch and return a fish plus loads more!

What equipment do you need to go float fishing?

10ft – 12ft feeder rod
3000 – 4000 size reel
6lb line
Disgorger
Hooks to nylon – we used size 16 hooks in this video
Bait box
Some feeders – we used a cage feeder for this video
Unhooking mat
Landing net: 18inch – 26inch

You will need a rod fishing licence from the Environment Agency to fish for freshwater fish in England (except the River Tweed), Wales and the Border Esk region of Scotland. You can purchase one here: https://www.gov.uk/fishing-licences

Licences for children aged between 13 and 16 are free, but you’ll still need to get one.

You must always carry your rod fishing licence when you’re fishing or you could be prosecuted.
